Brenda Barnes CPA, Managing Principal @ B2 Legal Management
Brenda has over 35 years of law firm management experience handling the day-to-day operations of very small, to the oversight of the administration of very large law firms. She has a unique perspective on running a legal practice – she understands how to run your company like a business.
Brenda has her Bachelor’s Degree from The University of Texas at Austin and her MBA from Texas State University. Brenda is the past President of Austin-Central Texas Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA).
Brenda enjoys gardening, fishing and traveling with her family.
Amanda Koplos, CLM, CPA
Amanda Koplos is the Executive Director for Orlando-based Shuffield, Lowman & Wilson, P.A. She has over 15 years of experience in law firm management at firms of multiple sizes. Amanda received her Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from Texas State University and her MBA with a concentration in Accounting from St. Edward’s University. She is a licensed CPA and has been a CLM since 2011 and she encourages everyone to “Just Take the Damn Test!”
Amanda has been active in the Association of Legal Administrators since February 2005. She has held numerous positions at the local, regional and international levels. She was very active in the Austin Chapter’s Board for many years and served as the 2009-2010 Chapter President. She served on 2 Regional Conference Planning Committees as well as the 2012 Annual Conference Planning Committee. From 2017 to 2020 Amanda was a member of the Association’s Committee on Diversity and Inclusion.
Amanda and her husband are natives of Austin, Texas, and are now enjoying raising their two kids in Central Florida. They are avid professional football fans and split their allegiances between the Green Bay Packers and the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Chris Sims, CPA
Chris Sims is the Director of Finance for Pirkey Barber PLLC. His primary focus is the strategic direction of the firm working closely with the Management and Finance Committees to further the business of law. In his toolbox: cash management; budgets and forecasts; compensation; trust accounting; technology integration; banking relationships; financing mechanisms; and risk management.
Chris earned a Bachelor of Business Administration – Finance from the University of North Texas in Denton and is a Texas Certified Public Accountant. He is a member in the Association of Legal Administrators where he served on the Board of Directors for the Austin Chapter most recently as President, President-Elect, and Treasurer.
Beyond the fascinating world of accounting and finance, Chris enjoys spending time with his better half of 21 years, traveling, and snow skiing.
